For the 31st Singapore International Film Festival, I had the opportunity to shine a spotlight on local filmmakers Remi Sali and Ho Pak Kin, and their film, Not My Mother’s Baking. While Tan Bee Thiam’s Tiong Bahru Social Club was the it-film of the festival, I thought Not My Mother’s Baking deserved to be discussed as equally within film circles. My interview with Sali and Ho brought to light the sensitivities our Little Red Dot still experiences when tackling race, religion and romance.
